After years of dedicated effort, Snow White is finally making her way back to the big screen. Disney released the first trailer for Snow White at D23 on Friday, ahead of its new release date on March 21, 2025.
Originally scheduled to premiere this March, the film's release was postponed by a year due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Highlighting its lengthy journey to the screen, stars Rachel Zegler (Snow White) and Gal Gadot (the Evil Queen) had previously presented early footage from the movie at D23 two years ago.
Marc Webb, known for directing The Amazing Spider-Man films, is at the helm of this new adaptation, which features songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul from The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen.
This film arrives nearly 90 years after the original ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’, which debuted in 1937 and became a foundational piece of Disney’s legacy. The Brothers Grimm tale has been adapted several times before, including films like ‘Mirror Mirror’ with Lily Collins and ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ starring Kristen Stewart.
The upcoming movie is part of Disney’s ongoing live-action slate, with ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ set to premiere on December 20. Disney’s live-action remakes have historically performed well, often grossing $1 billion prior to the pandemic, with recent hits like ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘Aladdin’. The most recent release, ‘The Little Mermaid’, earned $569.6 million.
